When people are hospitalized, they often hope for a visit from their pastor or minister. Unfortunately, many pastors and ministers have not received training on how to provide emotional and spiritual support in a hospital setting. This leads to the minister feeling anxious and uncomfortable and, despite their good intentions, saying things that are more harmful than helpful to the person they are trying to support. Join this workshop and receive practical tools on how to make an effective hospital visit. Knowing these skills will build your confidence when you walk into a hospital room and enable you to provide the pastoral care you hope for in these critical moments.

Presenter: Christy Edwards is Board Certified senior staff chaplain at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. She is passionate about helping churches, schools, and organizations develop their empathy skills. A former CBF field personnel, Christy serves on the CBF Heartland Coordinating Council.
